Defender Laing returns to Notts County

Notts County have signed Motherwell defender Louis Laing on loan for a second time.

Laing, 23, originally spent three months at Meadow Lane in 2014, when he was a Nottingham Forest player, and has rejoined the League Two side until January 16th.

He made 12 appearances for the Magpies in his first stint, and helped the club to six clean sheets, before retuning to his parent club.

Laing said: “Last time I was here I played what I felt was my best football.

“I love the fans and I love the club. That was one of the main factors – the belief the fans have in me – but the main thing for me was that the manager wanted me here.

“I want Notts County to be a success – to go back up – and I feel there’s a really good possibility of that.”

Despite joining Motherwell permanently after a successful loan spell there, he only went on to make a further 15 appearances for the club and admitted he never really wanted to leave Notts County.

Laing said: “I wanted to stay here last time – I was in the manager’s office back at Forest saying ‘I want to come back’ [to Notts] but it didn’t go through.

“I tried my hardest to get back and I don’t know why it didn’t happen – I pushed it as hard as I could because I loved being here – but I’m back now and fingers crossed it will be successful.”

Laing is eligible for tomorrow’s fixture against Plymouth and will go straight into John Sheridan’s squad.
