Peterborough make double signing

Peterborough have pushed ahead with plans for next season by signing Newport’s Andrew Hughes and Mansfield’s Ryan Tafazolli.

Both players made over 100 appearances for their former clubs and have joined on free transfers after rejecting new contracts.

The 24-year-olds represent the second and third signings made by Grant McCann since the former Posh player took charge at London Road.

The manager told the club’s official website, “Andrew is a lad I watched a few times last year and he arrives highly recommended from the manager at Rodney Parade. He had a number of clubs looking at him from this division and higher so we are really pleased to have him on board.”

With regards to the signing of Tafazolli, McCann said, “Ryan is a super player. He has won a lot of awards for his performances at Mansfield both this season and last and he will be a threat in both boxes. He is an excellent defender, I feel we don’t attack the ball from set-pieces well enough and he will certainly improve that.”

Peterborough finished in 13th place in League One last season and McCan will be hoping to improve on this in his first full season of professional management.
