Romain Vincelot staying put at Valley Parade after penning new deal

Romain Vincelot has committed his future to Bradford City by signing a new two-year deal to stay at Valley Parade.

The Frenchman signed for Bradford last summer from Coventry City and has quickly established himself as an integral part of the Yorkshire side’s first eleven.

Ever present under Stuart McCall, Vincelot made 45 appearances for the Bantams last campaign in a season which ended in a trip to Wembley in the League One play-offs.

When speaking on his captain’s new contract, McCall said: “It is always a bonus to keep hold of your captain for another added year. He brings a lot of leadership qualities and experience.

“He is a great personality to have in and around the dressing room – it was definitely a good decision to make him captain when he came to the football club last year.”

The 31-year-old expressed his delight to the club website, saying: “I am really happy here and I would like to thank the club for getting this new deal sorted. I am very settled and I can see the potential around the club.

“With this deal now signed, I can go into the new season just concentrating on my football. I don’t have to get to December and January and start to wonder about my future.

“I am fully focused for these next two years with the club – let’s see where we can take it.”

The Bantams kick off their 2017-18 season at home to League Two play-off winners Blackpool on Saturday.
