Exeter City have signed striker Ryan Brunt on an undisclosed-length contract following a successful trial period with the Devon club.

Brunt, 24, has been out of action for 16 months, after suffering a serious knee-injury while playing for the Grecians’ bitter rivals Plymouth Argyle, but has impressed Paul Tisdale enough in pre-season to earn a permanent deal.

After starting his career at Premier League side Stoke City, the forward enjoyed multiple loan spells at the likes of Luton and Leyton Orient, before joining Bristol Rovers permanently in 2013 and then Arygle in 2015.

Tisdale is clearly delighted to have added the striker to his ranks, and told Exeter’s official club website: “Ryan has made very good progress during the month that he has been with us.”

During his time at Home Park, Brunt scored 13 goals in 57 games, and despite not featuring for a full 90 minutes for the Grecians yet, the striker clearly still knows where the net is after scoring in a friendly against Taunton last Thursday.

“Clearly he [Brunt] has been out for length of time,” added Tisdale, “But we are confident that we will get him back to full fitness and he will be an important member of our squad.”
