Carlisle are closing in on their first signings of the summer, according to financial director Suzanne Kidd.

Keith Curle’s side enjoyed an impressive 2016/17 campaign, in which they finished 6th before suffering a heartbreaking play-off semi-final defeat to Exeter, but are yet to improve their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

While fellow League Two sides such as Mansfield, who have made 12 signings so far this summer, are bolstering their squads, Carlisle fans are worried about being left behind – but have been assured that isn’t the case.

According to Kidd, Curle is busy working on potential targets, the the financial director told Radio Cumbria: “There have been some blue bits of paper prepared this week.

“But it’s a difficult time at the moment. It’s holiday time for players, there is work ongoing, there are constant conversations and some of those have been successful.

“I don’t think Keith is far away from getting the first couple out and announced.”
