Northampton sign Luke Prosser on loan

League Two leaders Northampton Town have signed center back Like Prosser on loan from Southend until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old has been with Southend until 2010 and was part of the side that won promotion to League One through the play-offs last season.

Prosser has made 164 appearances for Southend but has found first team opportunities hard to come by of late and has only made one appearance for the Shrimpers since the end of November.

Northampton manager Chris Wilder told the club’s official website, “I’m really pleased to bring Luke in

“I have been an admirer of his for a while and this is another signing that will strengthen us at a key time in the season.

“As James Collins did, Luke also won promotion from this level last season, and that knowledge and experience can only help us.

“We have a really hectic schedule coming up, and to be able to add Luke’s ability, knowhow and experience to the squad is a big boost and a huge help to the players who are already here and have done so well to get us to the position we are in.”

Northampton are currently sitting two points ahead of second placed Plymouth at the summit of League Two.
