Ken tries to wriggle out of his own mess

LAURENCE Bassini is hardly a white knight, but Ken Anderson’s attempts to paint him as the bad guy in Bolton’s demise are shameful.
OK, so Bassini failed to make good on his pledge to buy the ailing club. But that is like blaming the Carpathia for the sinking of the Titanic.
It wasn’t Bassini who bought a club he couldn’t afford to run – not yet, anyway. It wasn’t Bassini who took a six-figure salary whilst staff went unpaid. It wasn’t Bassini who failed to address debts now totalling more than £40m.
