DON’T EXPECT PLAYERS TO KEEP IT CLEAN

PATRICK Bamford has been banned for two games after being found guilty of “simulation” by an FA panel.
The Leeds striker tumbled under a non-existent punch from Aston Villa’s Anwar El Ghazi, for which the Dutch winger was subsequently dismissed.
El Ghazi – who would have received a three-game ban – is now available for the play-offs. Is this a victory for retrospective punishment? Yes – but don’t expect it to change behaviour in big games.
