Signed from Oxford for £3m in 2016, the 25-year-old has rarely justified his price tag. Subbed on, subbed off. Bumped around the front four.
Nobody – least of all his managers – seemed able to decide whether his waspish workrate was best deployed up top, out wide or even at all.
Even last season’s 14-goal haul failed to convince the bulk of supporters, with little in the way of protest when he was linked with Blackburn in May.
