Coventry City have completed the signing of defender Jack Grimmer as they continue to plan for life in League Two.

The Sky Blues have brought in nine new players so far this summer, and 23-year-old Grimmer is the latest, having agreed a two-year deal with the club.

The right-back began his career at boyhood club Aberdeen, making his debut as a 16-year-old to become the Scottish club’s youngest ever first-team player.

Coventry boss Mark Robins is excited with the arrival of Grimmer, and told the club website: “He is a really good prospect and at 23 has even more development potential still.

“Jack is strong, powerful, quick and has a winning mentality – all of which are important qualities to have.”

Having come through the ranks with the Dons north of the border, Grimmer joined Fulham in 2012, and will bring with him to the Ricoh Arena a wealth of EFL experience for someone so relatively young.

The defender has enjoyed spells at Port Vale and Shrewsbury, where he spent three loan stints, before leaving Fulham in May, and Robins thinks he is the perfect addition to his squad ahead of the upcoming season.

“I think it is a coup for us to sign Jack, and I look forward to working with him,” said the former Huddersfield manager.

“This is an exciting signing, as Jack has both strong defensive and attacking elements to his game.”
