Yeovil have completed the signing of experienced midfielder James Bailey after he rejected a new contract at former club Carlisle United.

The 28-year-old joined Keith Curle’s side in February on a short-term deal, and played in both legs of the club’s play-off semi-final defeat to Exeter, but turned down the chance to extend his stay in Cumbria to sign a two-year deal with the Glovers.

Bailey has a wealth of Football League experience, and has also enjoyed spells across the globe in places such as India and Canada, and Yeovil boss Darren Way is delighted to add another signing to his ‘jigsaw’.

Speaking to the club’s website, Way said: “I want to thank everyone for their involvement in this signing,”

“The midfield jigsaw is now complete and we have a few finishing touches to make elsewhere.

“I’ve been chasing James all summer and negotiations have been going on since the season finished, so to get him signed on and committed to the green and white cause is fantastic for the football club.”

Bailey came through Crewe Alexandra’s prestigious academy, before joining Derby County in 2010 and then enjoying spells with Coventry and Barnsley.

The combative midfielder, who is also comfortable at right-back, spent a season with the Tykes before taking on a new challenge in India with Pune City, and then played in Canada with Ottawa Fury, before coming back to England and joining Carlisle earlier this year.
