A club statement read: “Newport County AFC are delighted to confirm the appointment of Graham Westley as first-team manager.

“Following the departure of Warren Feeney last week, the board of directors engaged with a number of potential candidates who had shown an interest in the vacancy and made contact with a number of figures, that fitted the profile of candidate the club was looking for, which included approaching Graham regarding the vacant manager’s position.

“Collectively, the candidates were narrowed down to a shortlist, before proceeding to interview five candidates for the role of first-team Manager.

“The Board were unanimous in their decision to appoint Graham, due to his extensive managerial experience in the Football League.”

Having become the sixth manager at Rodney Parade in just two years, Westley will start working at the the club on Monday, with joint caretaker managers Sean McCarthy and James Bittner remaining in charge for Saturday’s match away at Colchester.
