Stanley agree Shaw departure

Accrington Stanley have agreed to cancel the contract of full-back Frazer Shaw by mutual consent, with the youngster seeking to move back down south.

The former Leyton Orient and West Ham defender moves on from the Crown Ground having been brought in to the club by manager John Coleman on a two-year deal in June.

Unable to break into the first-team and with a club statement citing Shaw’s homesickness, the two parties have agreed to both move on.

Coleman explained to the club’s website: He is a good player, a good lad, but he found it difficult to settle being a southern lad based up north away from his family,” said John Coleman.

“He isn’t playing and that makes it doubly hard. He has a choice of either hanging around, not playing, being unsettled and waiting for his opportunity, or going and trying to take his opportunity elsewhere and that’s what he has decided to do.

“There is no animosity, it was all done on the best of terms and I hope he goes elsewhere and fulfils the potential I know he has.”

The 21-year-old was the first-choice option at left-back for Leyton Orient until the loan arrival of Jerome Binnon-Williams, featuring on 30 occasions for the O’s. Despite this, Shaw leaves Stanley having not registered an appearance.
