Julian Winter has quit as Notts County Chief Executive just six months after taking up the job.

The former Sheffield United CEO oversaw the appointment of Jamie Fullarton as manager in January.

After making the announcement Winter told the club’s official website, “There have been a lot of changes at the club over recent weeks and I want to stress that my resignation is not in light of these changes.”

“I came here with a clear plan of how to take this club forward and it is with regret that I have not been able to complete this important work.”

It has been a chaotic few weeks in the Notts County boardroom after Ray Trew resigned as chairman and put the club up for sale after being subjected to “foul and mindless abuse” from fans.

In recent days a consortiums from both Denmark and India have reportedly stated an interest in taking a controlling share of the club.

Notts County are currently sitting in 17th place in League Two, they face promotion chasing Bristol Rovers at Meadow Lane on Saturday.
