Newport re-sign former captain Jones

Newport County has re-signed former club captain Darren Jones from National League side Forest Green Rovers.

The defender returns for a third spell at Rodney Parade on a contract until the end of the season, having had his deal with the Green Devils cancelled by mutual consent on Sunday.

Jones left Newport at the end of last season after rejecting the offer of a new contract to make way for a deal with the National League’s promotion challengers, whom he has made 10 league appearances for this season.

Jones, 32, has also had stints with Aldershot and Shrewsbury in a career that started with Bristol City.
