Orient bring in Marquis on loan

By Hugo Varley

Leyton Orient have signed Millwall striker John Marquis on a three-month loan deal. The 23 year-old has failed to score in his six appearances for the Lions this season.

Marquis spent last season on loan at Gilllingham, scoring eight goals in 21 appearances to lift the Gills to a mid-table finish in League One.

Orient manager Paul Hendon told the club’s official website: “It’s no secret we have wanted to add a striker to the squad following the loss of Paul McCallum to injury.

“He has played a number of games at this level and has worked with my assistant Andy Hessenthaler at Gillingham last season, so we know what he is capable of.”

Following relegation to League Two last season, the O’s have had a successful start to the season and currently sit in 3rd place in the table. They travel to Crawley Town tomorrow, with new signing Marquis expected to be available for selection.
