Julian Winter appointed as new CEO at Notts County

By Hugo Varley

Notts County have announced that Julian Winter has become the club’s new CEO, replacing Aileen Trew who left the club in August. Winter has previously had spells in the boardroom at Grimsby Town, Watford and Sheffield United.

The 50 year-old expressed his excitement at his new role, telling the club’s official website, “Notts County is an impressive club, which is steeped in history and tradition, and everyone here is pulling towards the same target – promotion to League One.

“I am looking forward to working with the staff that we have here and to a successful season both on and off the pitch.”

County chairman Ray Trew also told of his delight at the appointment, telling reporters “It is with great pleasure that we welcome Julian to Notts County Football Club.

“The work Julian has done at the previous football clubs he has been at has been very impressive and everyone at the football club is delighted to have Julian on board.”

Before making the step up to the boardroom, Winter played as a defender for Huddersfield Town, Scunthorpe United and Sheffield United.

Notts County are currently sitting in 16th place in League Two and travel to Winter’s old club Sheffield United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tonight.
