Barmby joins Notts County on loan

By Hugo Varley

Leicester City attacking midfielder Jack Barmby has joined League Two club Notts County on a deal until November 13th. The 20-year old is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Foxes but spent time out on loan at Rotherham last season.

Barmby, who came through the Manchester United academy and is the son of former England midfielder Nick Barmby, told reporters “It’s important that I get some first-team experience at a competitive level of football.”

Notts County’s head of recruitment Guy Branston expressed his delight at the loan signing, telling the club’s official website “I have tracked Jack for years since his days playing in the Milk Cup for Manchester United.

“He has a clever footballing brain which can unlock defences but he also likes to get at full backs from his predominantly left-sided position.”

Notts County are at home to 17th placed York City on Saturday and Barmby should be eligible to play, subject to Football League ratification.
