Physics graduate Giles joins Oxford

By Hugo Varley

Oxford United have signed 21 year old Johnny Giles, following a successful trial at the club. The midfielder completed a degree in Physics at Durham University this summer before fully dedicating himself to football.

He told the club’s official website “ While at University I played for Durham and Ashington but things have obviously moved very quickly since then. I came in to train, did well in the games and now I have the opportunity to come to Oxford train full time and play for a great club as a professional.”

Oxford United have started the season well under Micheal Appleton and currently sit in 5th place in League Two.
