Parkinson awarded for Bolton’s unbeaten start

Bolton boss Phil Parkinson has been named the League One Manager of the Month after guiding his side to an unbeaten August.

The Trotters were relegated from the Championship last season, after an utterly miserable campaign that saw them win just five times, all of which were at home, and pick up just four points on the road.

However, the turnaround overseen by Parkinson since joining from Bradford has been nothing short of remarkable, and his team are now flying ahead of tomorrow’s match against MK Dons.

Parkinson said: “I’m of course very pleased to win the award, but it has been very much a team effort.

“The lads on the pitch deserve a lot of credit but also the team behind the scenes in terms of the coaching staff, the medical department and at board level as well.”

The away form was a huge worry to fans and management alike at Bolton, with them going 495 days without tasting victory on the road.

But after finally securing three points away from home on the opening day at Wimbledon, Bolton have gone from strength to strength and their position in the table shows that.

Parkinson said: “”It couldn`t have gone much better for us in terms of the points total.

“Of course, you’re always greedy for more, but I’ve been so pleased with the application of everybody and the determination of all at the football club to get things going again.

“I said that during my first few weeks here and it`s been backed up by the start we’ve had. Everybody now has to roll their sleeves up though and get ready for another big push.”

Parkinson will now be hoping September offers much of the same, starting at the Macron tomorrow.
