Cobblers sign Posh midfielder Beautyman

By Matt Storey

Midfielder Harry Beautyman has moved to League Two champions Northampton for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old has signed a two-year deal after being told he was surplus to requirements by Peterborough manager Grant McCann at the end of last season.

He made 44 appearances in two seasons at the ABAX Stadium and Cobblers manager Rob Page was pleased Beautyman chose Northampton.

Page said, “Harry is a very good signing for us,  he is a lively character and a player who has a decent amount of experience in League One.

“”He is a box to box midfielder who creates things, makes things happen and can score a goal or two so he will add to our attacking options.

“We are pleased we have been able to bring him to the club as attracted a fair amount of interest over the summer.”

On his decision to sign for newly promoted side Beautyman explained: “I’ve heard nothing but good things about the club, they did superbly last season and they’re a club on the up.

“They ran away with the league and they’ve kept the majority of the team together.

“The facilities are good and the place is beautiful so it was a no-brainer for me.”

Posh picked up Beautyman from non-league Welling in 2014 and McCann was pleased he’d found a new club

He said “It is a good move for Harry because it is fairly local so he shouldn’t have to move.

“I spoke to him at the back end of last season and explained that I didn’t think I could give him the first team football that he wanted because we have a lot of competition for places in midfield.”

Beautyman and his new side start the season at home to Fleetwood on August 6th and he won’t have to wait long to return to Peterborough, with the Cobblers making the 50 mile trip to the ABAX in mid-October.
