Barnsley sign Callum Connolly on loan

In form Barnsley have brought in Everton full back Callum Connolly on a one-month loan deal.

The 18-year-old has represented England at youth level and is known to be rated highly by coaches at Everton.

Barnsley Head Coach Paul Heckingbottom told the club’s official website, “Callum is exactly the type of player we were looking for and I’m delighted Everton have allowed us to take him on board,

“We’re excited to have him here and I’m sure he will help our cause, just as I’m sure we can help his development as a player.

“We have a good relationship with Everton and they have entrusted us with one of their highly-rated youngsters. We’re both confident this is the perfect environment for him to begin his professional career.”

Connolly is yet to make a senior first team appearance but has played a number of times for Everton’s Under 21 side this season.

Barnsley have only lost one in their last 11 league games and are sitting just outside the play off places in seventh position. They face a difficult trip to fellow promotion chasers Walsall on Saturday.
