Borussia Dortmund’s Zimmermann joins Farke’s Norwich

Norwich City are set to sign German defender Christoph Zimmermann when his contract at Borussia Dortmund II expires on 30th June.

The centre-back, 24, will sign a two-year deal at Carrow Road and becomes Daniel Farke’s third signing since he arrived at the club at the end of May.

Zimmermann was a regular under the German manager while both were at BVB, and during David Wagner’s spell in charge of the German giant’s second team.

Speaking  to Norwich City TV after signing for the Canaries, Zimmermann said: “I’m extremely delighted and very honoured for the opportunity.

“I’m already counting the days to get started. I’ve had a really positive first impression, so I’m looking forward to meeting all the guys and I cannot wait to start working.”

The defender joined Dortmund II in 2014, after two seasons with Borussia Monchengladbach II, and he was also part of the Foals’ youth set-up.

Farke is clearly delighted with his latest recruit, telling the club’s website: “He’s very big, tall, strong and powerful and he’s an intelligent boy.

“He was my captain of my under-23 team at Borussia Dortmund, and he fits English football because of his powerful way.

“We’re very happy he’s chosen to come to Norwich.”
