This weekend’s Football League tips from MarathonBet

All hail the return of the Football League! We’re back to the nitty-gritty of club football this weekend and where better to start than a 41/10 tip for Brighton’s trip to Elland Road in the Championship.

The Seagulls had their wings clipped in recent weeks after a trio of disappointing draws that should have really seen the boys in blue and white collect nine points. They’re still top of the pile but have Middlesbrough hot on their heels just two points behind in second.

However Albion, who are a tasty 11/4 with Marathonbet to clinch promotion to the Premier League this season, remain unbeaten in the Championship and have only lost once to Leeds in their last nine meetings. They’ve also won their last three matches against the Yorkshire side by a 5-0 aggregate.

Chris Hughton’s side will be without in-form winger LuaLua but should still have enough to see off a Leeds team that’s notched one win in their last five league games. That considered, Brighton look a big price at 29/20 to win outright.

We expect Leeds to find the net against Brighton this time round (they’re 21/50 to score anytime) but think the south coast club will be too hot to handle. Brighton and Hove Albion to win and both teams to score is the recommended selection at a huge 41/10 with Marathonbet.

To League One and Walsall made a giant stride towards promotion last time out by beating league leaders Burton. The Saddlers have now leapfrogged Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s men at the top of the table and are a more than generous 19/10 with Marathonbet to be playing in the Championship next season.

They should further cement their promotion credentials against Chesterfield at Banks’s Stadium tomorrow and are a decent 17/20 to win outright. A defensive horror show proved costly in Chesterfield’s 3-1 defeat to Gillingham last time out but the Spireites will be lifted by the return of injured striker Lee Novak and international call-up Gboly Ariyibi. However Dean Saunders’ side have lost four of their last five so Walsall to win by 2 goals is the selection at 77/20.

And finally in League Two, Luton Town seem to be taking inspiration from the aviation activity at their local airport after soaring up the table thanks to a five game unbeaten run – including four straight wins.

They visit Crawley tomorrow – a team that’s huffing and puffing to stop nose-diving into the National League – and are 23/20 to win outright at the Checkatrade Stadium.

The Sussex club won last time out against Leyton Orient but of the few wins Crawley have picked up so far this campaign, the Reds have never gone on to win a second consecutive game. The Football League banker of the weekend could come in the form of Luton to win or draw at Crawley priced at 31/100.
