Lincoln announce four new signings for New Year promotion push

Lincoln City manager Michael Appleton has announced four new signings from Premier League and Championship clubs, with the Imps still aiming for promotion after a poor start to the season.

The club confirmed the loan arrivals of striker Tyreece John-Jules and midfielder Conor Coventry from Arsenal and West Ham United respectively.

Midfielder Tayo Edun has joined on a permanent deal from Championship side Fulham, and Max Melbourne has signed a two-and-half-year deal at LNER Stadium following his previous loan from West Bromwich Albion.

Appleton spoke at a press conference and said
clubs were queuing up for John-Jules’ capture: “If I said a few clubs were
after him, then I’d be under playing
it.”

Football.London reported a number of Championship teams and clubs higher in League One were discounted if they had plans to play the 18-year-old outside his regular home up front. John-Jules has trained with Arsenal’s first team, and manager Mikel Arteta spoke of the teenager as a “really good player” who “can do everything.”

Defensive midfielder Coventry, 19, has been in
West Ham’s academy since 2010 and has already made 10 appearances for Republic
of Ireland under-21s.

Lincoln are currently 16th in League One but are
only six points off the play-off places, with all far from lost considering the
gradual improvements since Appleton arrived in late September.

The Imps have lost 12 of their 24 games,
however, and only three teams have been defeated more: Rochdale (13), MK Dons
(14) and Southend United (17).
