Leeds looking to Danny Ings to fire promotion bid

Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United are being heavily linked with a shock January move for out of favour Liverpool striker Danny Ings.

The Englishman has enjoyed a frustrating time at Anfield since his move from Burnley in 2015, with injury keeping him out of the side for almost the entirety of his time there.

Even when fit the 25-year-old doesn’t appear to have much of a future in Reds boss Jurgen Klopp’s free-flowing forward line.

And as such the German is reportedly willing to sanction Ings’ departure in January, with the Whites eager to nab him ahead of any Premier League interest.

Inhs has prior in the Championship, having scored 21 goals in Burnley’s 2014 promotion campaign, before adding another 11 in the Premier League in 2014-15.

He’s been limited to 12 appearances and three goals in just over two seasons on Merseyside, but his record of 61 goals in 185 career games suggests he’s a top-level striker (if his injury woes are behind him).

After a phenomenal start to the campaign, the wheels have come off slightly at Elland Road in recent weeks, with Christiansen’s men suffering back-to-back defeats to Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday in their past two matches.

Ings’ signing would further reinvigorate a front-line that lost its best player this summer when Chris Wood moved to Burnley. The likes of Samu Saiz and Pierre-Michel Lasogga have filled the breach, but any move for Ings would provide an instant upgrade for Christiansen.

    Idiotic comment. He has been out for nearly 2 years….it requires time to get upto match sharpness. Stick to reporting on FM or FIFA

      1. He clearly doesn’t fit in the system. Klopp evidently prefers playing with multiple attacking midfielders as opposed to an out-and-out striker hence why Sturridge doesn’t get much football either.
      2. If Klopp is willing to sell him in January by definition he doesn’t have a future at Liverpool, does he?

    Yes he will have to go. Klopp has no need for strikers. He picks mid-fielders until the cows come home and hopes they can run up and score a goal or two. The fact that this seldom happens nowdays doesn’t seem to bother him in the least. The defence is fragmenting so I expect he will fill that section up with mid-fielders come January.
    He appears to be enthralled by using LFC like some sort of private video game that he can amuse himself with by bizarre choices. I must look around and get me one!
