GOALKEEPER
Paul Robinson – Blackburn Rovers
I came up against him about a year ago and he was outstanding. He’s an excellent keeper who is capable of making great saves. I managed to score past him in the first minute but I had a couple of other shots that he kept out and we lost 5-3! He makes so many quality saves. He’s a top-class keeper.
RIGHT BACK
Kyle Walker – Tottenham Hotspur
I played against him when he was at Sheffield United on loan, when he had already signed for Tottenham. He’s a great right-back, always focused on attacking and not defending, which means that he’s always pushing you back up the field. And he’s really quick.
LEFT BACK
Stephen Crainey – Wigan
He’s a very experienced full-back who I have played against on several occasions. He’s a really clever, intelligent defender, and he reads the game so well, which makes him very difficult to play against.
CENTRE BACK
Matthew Bates – Unattached
He’s a new team-mate of mine and has really impressed me – also when I have played against him. He’s very good and strong in the air. He’s also very good on the ball for a centre back.
CENTRE BACK
André Bikey – Unattached
I came up against him when he was at both Burnley and Middlesbrough. He’s an unbelievably strong and powerful player. His passing is good too, and he can switch the ball very well. He always gave strikers a tough day.
RIGHT MIDFIELD
Yannick Bolasie – Crystal Palace
An ex-team mate from Bristol City, he is very skilful, and I appreciate skilful players. He’s very tricky to play against and you just don’t know what he’s going to come out with. He’s a great player, very direct and a Congo international.
LEFT MIDFIELD
Wilfried Zaha – Manchester United
He’s similar to Bolasie and they played together at Crystal Palace. Extremely skilful and tricky, he’s an unpredictable winger who has represented England. He has so much flair and he’s very capable of scoring superb goals.
CENTRAL MIDFIELD
Mile Jedinak – Crystal Palace
I really admire him whenever I play against Palace. He’s very strong, he holds the ball extremely well and he is a very powerful player. He’s also a very good tackler, he wins possession so often.
CENTRAL MIDFIELD
Jobi McAnuff – Reading
He’s a very big player for Reading. He plays on the right but I would have him in the middle. His delivery is very good, both his passing and his crossing. He also likes to take on players. He is so direct, it makes him very hard to play against.
STRIKER
Sam Baldock – Bristol City
Another team mate at Bristol City. He’s a complete striker, which made him great to have on your team. He can run in behind defences, he scores lots of goals and he also helps people out by bringing other players into the game. His link-up play is really great.
STRIKER
Grant Holt – Wigan
I played against him when he was at Norwich during the season they got promoted to the Premier League. He would hold up the ball for others to finish, and he would score goals himself and be in the box. He’s an extremely strong and powerful player, and can be a real handful for defenders.
