Coventry City youngster George Thomas has signed a three-year contract with Premier League side Leicester City for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old forward impressed for the Sky Blues last season, despite their relegation to League Two, and scored nine goals in all competitions – including a wonderful winner in the EFL Trophy final.

Thomas, who made his debut for Coventry aged 16, is capable of playing either as a striker or as a midfielder, and represented Wales in the under-20 Toulon Tournament earlier this summer.

Speaking to the Foxes’ official club website, Thomas said: “I’m delighted to get it over the line finally and I’m looking forward to the season coming and seeing what I can do.

“I’ve seen a few of the boys in the changing room. It’s all good at the minute. The facilities are unbelievable and I just can’t wait to get started.

Thomas’ contract at Coventry expired in June, with Leicester agreeing a compensation fee for their latest recruit, and he will initially be part of the development squad with the 2015-16 Premier League champions.
