League Two side Barnet have appointed former interim boss and first-team assistant Rossi Eames as their permanent head coach.

Eames took charge of the Bees in December, when Martin Allen left the club to take over at National League side Eastleigh, and alongside Henry Newman, won four of his 11 games in charge before Kevin Nugent was appointed.

He was then placed back in interim charge at The Hive when Nugent was sacked in April, and now, at the age of 32, Eames becomes the youngest permanent boss in the EFL.

Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous is confident he is the right man for the job, telling the club’s official website: “We have thoroughly searched through all the available choices and concluded that the best candidate was the one on our doorstep.”

Eames has been a coach at Barnet for seven years, having worked his way up through the ranks after starting in the academy, before his two stints in charge of the first team as interim boss.

After finishing 15th in League Two, a comfortable 11 points clear of the relegation zone, Barnet will be hoping to kick on with Eames at the helm next season, and Kleanthous said: “We support his playing style and our team responds positively to his philosophy.

“We want to build on the foundations we have created and think we can provide Rossi with the support he needs to strengthen his management credentials.

“For us this was the bold choice and the right time to finally allow Rossi to take sole control of our football destiny.”
