Dean Bowditch is set to leave MK Dons at the end of the season after six-years with the League One club.

The 30-year-old forward joined the Buckinghamshire side from Yeovil in 2011 after numerous loan spells at clubs across the football league, and has gone on to make 227 appearances.

In that time, he has been involved in promotion to the Championship, and relegation back to the third tier, and scored 48 goals for the Dons.

Speaking to the club’s official website, chairman Pete Winkelman said: “Dean has been an important member of the squad for a long period of time and we will always be grateful for what he’s done for the Club.

“He helped us win promotion and also scored some crucial and memorable goals. I’d like to wish Dean all the best in the future.”

Bowditch is the latest experienced name to announce their exit from Stadium:MK after Darren Potter and David Martin revealed they would also be leaving at the end of the season.

With the future of record-appearance maker Dean Lewington also in doubt, as boss Robbie Neilson oversees a period of change at MK Dons, Bowditch told the club’s website: “I’ve enjoyed some fantastic memories during six years at MK Dons but all great things come to an end and it’s time for a new challenge.

“I will never forget the night against Manchester United, promotion to the Championship and scoring the winning goal against AFC Wimbledon earlier this season.

“I wouldn’t have been able to achieve those things without the support of the chairman, the staff and my team-mates over the six years. I’d also like to say a massive thank you to the fans for their continued support.

“I wish the Club all the best for the future.”
