League One promotion hopefuls Bradford have completed the signing of promising young striker Alex Jones.

The 22-year-old arrives for an undisclosed fee from Birmingham City, and has signed a two-year deal with Stuart McCall’s side, keeping him in Yorkshire until at least 2019.

The Bantams have faced strong competition from numerous EFL clubs for Jones’ signature after his impressive form at fellow League One side Port Vale this season, where he enjoyed a prolific loan spell.

With the Valiants, the young, 6″0 striker netted 10 goals in 21 games, and upon signing for Bradford, Jones told the club website: “I love to try and score goals, that is what my game is all about.

“I try to get into scoring positions and cause defenders problems.

“It was good to get out on loan and get some first team experience, and I think I’ve taken my chance and managed to get this move.

“As soon as I knew a team the size of Bradford were interested in me, I was always drawn to them more than the others interested in me.

“I am delighted that I have been given the opportunity to come here and hopefully I can repay their faith with some goals.”

Vale were very keen to make Jones’ move to the club permanent when his loan recently ended, but chairman Norman Smurthwaite posted on Twitter that they couldn’t agree terms with the player’s agent.

The highly-rated forward has now moved to Valley Parade and should be available for tomorrow’s clash at home to Chesterfield.
