Brass named Bury boss until end of season

League One strugglers Bury have named Chris Brass as their head coach until the end of the season.

Brass, a former Bury player, had been Head of Footballing operations but has been in interim charge of the Shakers since David Flitcroft left the club.

Ryan Kidd will be Brass’ assistant, while Chris Sedgwick will continue in his role as first-team coach.

It has gone almost full-circle for Brass, who was Flitcroft’s assistant before the club’s hierarchy revamped the coaching system at Bury and moved the 41-year-old to his previous role.

However, now he is back on the sidelines for a permanent spell and chairman Stewart Day told BBC Sport: “There are several things that I believe we can improve on and off the field.

“This is why I felt that by going with Chris and Ryan we are able to get back on track to where we should be.

“I want us to win games, be successful, play attractive football and I also want performances from the team. Both Chris and Ryan know what we are looking for as the winning culture needs to be within the club.”

Brass took over when Flitcroft departed the side having not won in 11 games, but Bury now find themselves winless in 15, and their 4-2 defeat at Bristol Rovers on Saturday was a club record eleventh in a row.

With the Shakers languishing in 20th place, it could be a tough few months for Brass.
