Sheridan agrees with Notts County boo-boys

Notts County boss John Sheridan said he could have joined in with the supporters who booed after the Magpies lost at home to Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

Sheridan, who joined the club in August, had guided his new side to a four match unbeaten run in all competitions, but that good form was abruptly ended by a Stanley side who eased to a 2-0 victory.

And the manner of the result led many home fans to jeer their side off at full-time, but Sheridan agreed with them.

He said: “I wasn’t happy watching it. I could’ve booed. But I have to stay strong and I will keep faith in my players.

“I understand the supporters as the performance didn’t merit appreciation.”

After a tough start which saw the Magpies lose 2-0 at Yeovil and 2-1 at home to Plymouth, an EFL trophy victory over Hartlepool and seven points from a possible nine in the league had raised optimism.

However, this latest home defeat now leaves County 17th in League Two, four points clear of the relegation zone.

Sheridan said:  “I am very disappointed with the way we have gone about the game.

“Sometimes it is hard to understand when you give a performance like that. I just think we were not at the races.”
