Agard joins Dons in club-record deal

MK Dons have completed the capture of Kieran Agard from Championship side Bristol City.

Although undisclosed, the amount MK Dons have paid for the 26-year-old is a club-record fee and he has signed a three-year deal.

On joining the Buckinghamshire side, Agard said: “It’s a fantastic feeling and I’m excited. The ambition and direction of the Club suits me perfectly and I’m happy to be a part of it.

“Karl was a big influence in my decision to come to the Football Club. I met with him and he was very enthusiastic – I liked what he had to say and that’s one of the many reasons I’m here now.

Agard joined Bristol City two seasons ago, on the back of an impressive season at Rotherham League One, during which he scored 26 goals and helped the Millers get promoted via the play-offs.

Steve Cotterill brought him to the Robins, and although he struggled to get consistent game time, Agard managed to find the net 13 times for the club.

Dons boss Karl Robinson said: “We’re ecstatic to have him at the Football Club. We’ve had to be patient with this deal but it’s an important one for us.

“His goal record, especially in this division, speaks for itself – he’s also been promoted from this league twice.

“I think this signing sends out a message – we are ambitious and we are heading in the right direction.”
