Norwich hijack bid for Brighton bound Pritchard

Pritchard looked set to become Brighton’s record signing
Norwich hijack bid for Brighton bound Pritchard

Norwich City have hijacked Brighton’s record-breaking bid to sign young Tottenham midfielder Alex Pritchard, despite the South Coast club having agreed terms with the attacking midfielder.

As reported yesterday, Brighton had agreed a club-record fee for England under-21 star Pritchard, with the fee potentially reaching close to £8million.

However, Norwich have entered the race for the player at the eleventh hour with what is said to be an ‘illegal approach’.

Personal terms were said to be agreed between the Seagulls and Pritchard, but with parachute payments, and the ability to pay much higher wages, Norwich have the financial clout to land the player who starred in the Championship for Brentford two seasons ago.

Norwich are now in pole position to land the exciting Pritchard, although Brighton manager Chris Hughton hasn’t given up hope yet of signing the player he planned to deploy as a no. 10.
