Paul Taylor rejoins Peterborough United after a year out of football

PAUL TAYLOR has returned to Peterborough United on a one-year deal after spending the last 12 months out of the game.

PAUL TAYLOR has returned to Peterborough United on a one-year deal after spending the last 12 months out of the game.

The 28-year-old was released by Championship outfit Ipswich Town in the summer of 2015 but will now be back in Peterborough colours after proving his fitness.

He initially joined Posh in February 2011 while the club were in the Championship and moved to Ipswich for a reported fee of £1.5m in August 2012.

Taylor returned to Peterborough for a brief loan spell in September 2013 before a similar move to Rotherham United at the end of 2014.

He’s now back at London Road and manager Grant McCann believes it could be a key signing for the club as they look to climb out of League One.

McCann told the club’s website: “It is a great signing for us. A fit Paul Taylor is one of the best players in this league, if not beyond, so we are hopefully going to get him fit. He is going to do some extra sessions with Ben (Mackenzie, head of sports science).

“He has looked sharp but we obviously need to step it up fitness wise. Paul is looking forward to it and everyone is looking forward to having him at the club.

“He is direct, he will get at teams, he works hard and since he left the club we can see that he has been coached well and that is not surprising because he has been at some big clubs like Nottingham Forest, Ipswich Town, Rotherham and Blackburn Rovers. He has had some good coaching and hopefully we can add to that.”
