Blackburn owners deny reports of takeover bid

A statement on Blackburn Rovers’ official website has said that there is “no truth” in recent reports that a joint ownership bid has been made for the club.

Reports recently surfaced that a consortium led by Seneca Partners had contracted Venky’s group about buying a stake in the club.

Venky’s group bought Rovers in 2010 from the Jack Walker Trust and oversaw the club’s relegation from the Premier League in 2012.

There were protests against Venky’s in Blackburn’s final home game of the season with fans unhappy at the way the club is currently being run.

Rovers finished in a disappointing 15th placed finish in the Championship this season and are currently without a first team manager after Paul Lambert left at the end of the campaign.

Lambert’s replacement will be Rovers’ eight manager in as many years.

The Blackburn owners also confirmed that they are not currently seeking to sell the club.

The full statement reads –

We have come across certain media reports that we have received a proposal for joint ownership of the club

We wish to clarify that there is no truth in these reports. We, the owners of the club, have no intention of selling or diluting our stake in any manner.

We are totally and absolutely committed to supporting the club and endeavor for its advancement in all aspects.
