Crawley Town part company with Mark Yates

League Two side Crawley Town have parted company with manager Mark Yates.

The Reds are safe from relegation this season but Saturday’s loss to Carlisle was their sixth defeat in as many games.

Yates was appointed Crawley manager over the Summer following the departure of John Gregory. The 46-year-old previously had spells in charge of Kidderminster Harriers and Cheltenham Town.

During his three years in charge of Kidderminster Yates kept the club clear of relegation from the Conference and guided them to the FA Trophy final. Yates also helped Cheltenham to the League Two play offs on two occasions.

A statement on Crawley Town’s official club website read, “”The recent form and performance of the team suggests change is needed.

The board will be interviewing potential candidates in the next few days to make the right appointment to move the club forward.

“The days and weeks ahead will determine the right path for the club.”

Crawley were recently taken over by businessman Ziya Eren and the Turkish steel magnate has deemed that quick changes are needed.

It has been confirmed that Yates’ assistant Jimmy Dack has also left the club.
