Dack wins League One Player of the Year

Gillingham midfielder Bradley Dack has won the League One Player of the Year award, as voted for by the division’s managers.

The 22-year-old’s reputation as one of the most promising midfielders in the Football League grew in stature as he collected the award ahead of Swindon’s Nicky Ajose and Walsall’s Romaine Sawyers.

On winning the award, Dack said: “Obviously it’s a massive honour and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of my team-mates and the manager.

“Our main aim is to get promoted but I’m delighted to have won this award in the process.”

Dack has played a pivotal role in Justin Edinburgh side’s push for promotion this season, having scored 13 goals and assisted his team-mates in scoring nine goals.

Such form saw Bristol City table three bids for his services in January, though the former Charlton youngster confided to Edinburgh that a move to Ashton Gate wouldn’t be the right one.

Edinburgh stated: “Bradley is a fantastic player but very mature young man. He just wants to have success at Gills. That’s his main focus.”
