Tangerines sign Leicester’s Blyth on loan

Blackpool have signed Leicester City frontman Jacob Blyth on loan for the rest of the season.

Blyth should be able to show whether he is a fox in the box for the Tangerines with the Football League clearing him to play in the Good Friday tie with Bury.

The 23-year-old was signed by Nigel Pearson from non-league club Leamington in 2012 but is yet to make an appearance for the Foxes.

Blyth has instead been loaned out to Football League clubs including Notts County and Northampton and having two spells with Burton, where he scored 5 goals en route to promotion with the Brewers as Champions last season.

More recently, Blyth joined Cambridge United in September on loan for one-month until injury cut short the agreement. He has since featured for Leicester’s Under-21 side, scoring twice in 11 appearances.

Blackpool have been scrapping to avoid relegation all season and lie one point clear of the drop zone with eight matches left to play. They were buoyed by a 2-1 victory against rivals Crewe Alexandra at the weekend thanks to goals by Jack Redshaw and Tom Aldred.
