Match Preview: Carlisle United v Reading (Saturday, 3pm)

LP_0903_MAIN_LPE1_001

Struggling Carlisle United face Reading at Brunton Park on Saturday looking to build on a win in their last league outing.

After securing all three points with a 1-0 victory over Burton Albion on Tuesday, Carlisle sit bottom of League One.

They travel to play a Reading side 14th in the standings, who lost in their last match, 3-2 against Shrewsbury Town, on February 24.

Carlisle are in bad form in League One, with one win and five losses from their last six games.

With three wins and a draw over that period, Reading’s form is much better – they have taken 10 points from 18, compared to United’s three.

With 28 goals in 34 games so far this season, the home side are scoring at below the league average rate with 0.8 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 57 goals at a rate of 1.7 per game.

The Royals, meanwhile, are average scorers, with 1.3 goals per game. They have conceded 1.5 goals per game.

Saturday’s match will be refereed by Martin Coy, who has taken charge of eight League One games so far this season, issuing two red cards and booking 28 players. He has awarded six penalties.

The last Carlisle game Coy refereed was a 2-0 home loss to Derby County on September 23. His last Reading match was their 3-2 loss at home against Portsmouth on October 28.
