Leyton Orient tabled contract for Kevin Nolan

Leyton Orient manager Ian Hendon has revealed that the club made a serious offer to sign Kevin Nolan, which was turned down by the former West Ham United captain.

Nolan had been training with the O’s first-team in order to maintain his fitness after being released by West Ham last summer.

But with Nolan still a free agent after three months training with the east London club, Hendon confirmed he tabled a contract offer late last year that could have seen the experienced midfielder become Orient’s latest big-money earner.

The O’s boss said of the 33-year-old: “Towards the end of the year he was made an offer to sign.

“We made him a very good offer and there were serious conversations about signing him but we just couldn’t agree terms with him.”

Hendon also confirmed he was hoping to make one loan addition to the squad in time for Saturday’s match at home to Exeter City.
