POMPEY BACK TO EARTH

Match Verdict

PORTSMOUTH’S dream start to life back in League One came to an abrupt halt as Kenny Jackett’s men were well beaten by a rampant Oxford.
Pompey were being touted as contenders for back-to-back promotions after a Brett Pitman double inspired them to a 2-0 win over Rochdale last week.
But fans and pundits alike may have to reconsider their expectations after this heavy defeat.
The first half was an even contest but a Pompey side, including three academy graduates, could not cope with their hosts’ blistering counter attacks after the break.
