Mark Duffy to stay at Burton until the end of the season

Burton Albion have moved to extend winger Mark Duffy’s loan deal until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old joined from Birmingham in the summer on an initial six month loan and has impressed the Pirelli Stadium faithful during his 23 appearances for the club.

Brewers manager Nigel Clough told the club’s official website, “It’s always good when we are desperate for him to stay and he wants to stay.

We are grateful to Gary Rowett and Birmingham for letting him do that. They are on a good run at the moment, so I think this is the best place for him as he wants to carry on playing and he’s in good form.”

Duffy also expressed his delight at extending his stay with the Staffordshire club telling reporters, “I’m really enjoying my football here and just want to carry on what we are doing.

It’s great to be playing games week in week out because that’s something I really enjoy. I’m pleased with the way I’m playing but I just want to take one or two more chances when they come my way.”

Burton returned to the top of the League One table with Saturday’s 1-0 win over Blackpool to keep alive their hopes of back to back title winning seasons.
