Yeovil part company with Paul Sturrock

Paul Sturrock has been relieved of his duties as Yeovil Town manager.

He leaves the club bottom of League Two and without a win in 12 league games following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Northampton Town at Sixfields.

Sturrock took over at Yeovil in April when the club were on the verge of relegation form League One. He was unable to prevent relegation last season and has overseen a continuation of the Glovers’ disappointing form so far this campaign.

In a statement on the club’s official website Yeovil chairman John Fry said, “We are very sad that the board had to reach this decision today and we thank Paul for his hard work during his time at Huish Park.

“We wish him well for the future, however we all felt that in the light of recent results we had no alternative. We will now begin our search for a new manager.”

Darren Way has been appointed as interim manager and will be assisted by Terry Skiverton.

Yeovil were playing Championship football just three seasons ago but they now face the prospect of a third relegation in a row and the possibility of playing in the National League next season.
