This weekend’s Football League tips from MarathonBet

From playing at an athletics stadium and sharing a ground with Gillingham to nearly going bust and shutting up shop completely, Brighton’s road to the Championship summit has been a memorable one.

The Seagulls are still unbeaten in their quest for Premier League promotion and showed good character to come from behind to win at home to Bristol City on Tuesday night. They’re four points clear at the top and can be backed to win at home to Preston on Saturday at 41/50 with Marathonbet.

The visitors have kept a clean sheet against Brighton in five of their last seven matches against the south coast club while there have been under 2.5 goals in Albion’s last four home matches against Preston in all competitions. That considered, this should be a tight affair. Brighton to win and under 2.5 goals in the game looks a good shout at 67/25.

Preston have been struggling for momentum of late and flounder near the foot of the league table. But they did put in a good shift away to Charlton mid-week and left south London with maximum points after an impressive 3-0 win. They’re 39/10 to beat Brighton outright and a huge 75/1 to notch another 3-0 away win on Sunday.

One team hoping to join the likes of Preston in the Championship next term is Wigan. The former Premier League regulars have endured a torrid few seasons since being dumped out the top flight but are making big strides to promotion again thanks to a seven-game unbeaten run in League One.

They take on Bradford away on Saturday – themselves a team finding form after notching three wins on the bounce – and have not conceded against the Bantams in their last three meetings. Wigan can be backed at 16/5 with Marathonbet to win to nil while theWigan win or draw could be a safe shout at 43/100.

And finally in League Two, leaders Plymouth suffered their first defeat in ten games when losing 1-0 to Oxford United last time out. They look a massive price to make amends away to Luton this weekend and can be backed with Marathonbet to win outright at 97/50. Other attractive markets include Plymouth to win by one goal – something they’ve done in five of their nine wins this campaign – at 71/20.

Marathonbet is industry best-price in a haul of sporting markets and events across the world. Back these tips and hundreds more selections at www.marathonbet.co.uk.
