Dean Hammond joins Sheffield United on loan

By Hugo Varley

Sheffield United have brought in Leicester City midfielder Dean Hammond on a loan deal until January.

The 32-year old made 29 appearances for the Foxes in their promotion season to the Premier League in 2014 but has since found first team appearances harder to come by.

Hammond worked with Blades boss Nigel Adkins during his time at Southampton and Adkins spoke of his delight at being able to bring the midfielder to Brammal Lane.

He told the club’s official website “I cannot speak highly enough of him as a player and a person, he sets high standards both on and off the pitch”

Hammond could go straight into the side for Sheffield’s home game against Fleetwood tonight.
