Liam Cullen commits long-term future to Swansea

Fresh off scoring two goals, Cullen has signed a new contract that will run until 2024

Wales U21 forward Liam Cullen has penned a new three year contract, which will keep him at the Liberty until 2024 – with an option of a further year.

Cullen’s previous terms of contract with the Swan’s only ran until 2022 but speculation over his long-term future has been put to bed with a lengthy extension.

Swansea manager Steve Cooper, speaking after the Forest tie, told the press that the forward “deserved” his goals.

“Culls [Liam Cullen] has deserved the goals. I said to him not so long ago that we have just been waiting for those chances to drop to him, because he will score those chances.”

The Swan’s academy product told swanseacity.com that from a young age he believed he was going to play for the club.

“I used to go and watch games and I would tell my parents: ‘I am going to play on that pitch one day’.”

The young forward has been part of the club’s academy setup since the age of eight.

Cullen, 21, bagged a brace as Swansea eased past Nottingham Forest by five goals to one in the FA Cup third round.
