U’s fined over ineligible player

CAMBRIDGE UNITED have accepted a £12,000 fine for naming an ineligible player on their bench and then filing a backdated document.
The U’s were hit with the sanction from the EFL after naming George Hoddle, who had been on loan at St Neots, in their squad for February’s League One game against Barnsley.
The U’s admitted to the EFL breaking two rules and a club employee has received a written warning from the league.
