Wat a start!

EFL return is packed with goals

There were thrills, spills and goals galore as the EFL fully roared back into action yesterday.

Valerien Ismael’s Watford reign got off to a dream start with a 4-0 drubbing of QPR, while Stoke, below, hammered Rotherham 4-1.

“It shows the quality in our squad,” said Ismael. “It was the perfect start for everyone.”

In League One, Devante Cole hit a hat-trick as Barnsley started life under Neill Collins in incredible fashion with a 7-0 thrashing of Port Vale.

There was a brutal Football League return for Wrexham and Notts County in League Two. The Red Dragons crashed 5-3 at home against MK Dons, below, while ten-man County were humbled 5-1 at Sutton.
